The City has an active contract for paving activities with a local contractor. We are aware of and evaluating pavements that require improvements, patching and major repairs and are attempting to prioritize need and balance needs with available funds. The time between November and February is difficult to execute asphalt paving due to temperature and precipitation. We are currently scheduling work in the coming weeks at both Deer Path and Chestnut Cove, two of our most pressing and previously identified areas. As new areas are identified, the City Engineer makes a site visit to determine the best course of action for pavement repair/replacement and a rough cost estimate based on the unit price items listed in the current contract. Once we get through the first couple projects we will reevaluate all known areas and remaining funding and prioritize what we can to address the needs of the City.
On Thursday, March 14th, there will be paving repairs occurring in Deer Path subdivision. Please use caution when traveling in this area and follow the direction of flagmen and road signs.
