RESIDENTIAL GARBAGE & DEBRIS SERVICES
Debris trash service is provided by the Madison County Commission. To learn the day of your debris pickup, contact the Madison County District 3 Shed at 256-723-4247. All residents are charged $3 a month for trash pickup. If your trash is more than a standard size pickup truck load per month, please call and schedule for SPECIAL SERVICE. The minimum charge is $50. The fee depends on manpower, equipment and disposal fees.
Placement of trash:
1. Do not place trash or limbs on top of a water meter or sewer manhole.
2. Do not place trash or limbs under power lines.
3. Do not place brush & debris trash within 5 feet of your mailbox.
4. Put trash and limbs on your own property.
5. Place all items within 10 feet of the road and preferably not in a ditch.
6. Separate Trash and Brush in two distinct piles.
Limbs and Brush – All brush in a separate pile. Must be cut in 8 foot lengths or less. Grass Clippings and Leaves – Grass clippings and pine straw must be contained. If placed in trash cans, they will not be emptied.
Metal Items – Separate into one pile. This includes: appliances, hot water heaters, chairs, iron post, all fencing and aluminum goods. Bulk Household Items – Large items (mattresses, sofas, etc.)
Items that CAN NOT be placed at side of road:
Automotive products, car batteries, pesticides, household batteries, paint and related products. Please contact the Handle with Care Collection Center located at 4100 Leeman Ferry Road (256-880-6054) to dispose of these items.
Construction materials such as: shingles, insulation, concrete blocks, rocks, cement and like materials may be taken to the City of Huntsville Landfill (256-881-8700).
Tires must be taken to the City of Huntsville Landfill as well.
Commercial tree trimmers must dispose of their own debris.
Contractors must remove construction debris.
